Alfreton History aims to be Alfreton's foremost online historical archive Alfreton history web site brings together Alfreton local history information, records and sources into one comprehensive online portal. Its a comprehensive record of the history of Alfreton Town, and its surrounding hamlets and villages over time. Our online archives show historical facts and records of people, places, important buildings, industry, maps and development of the area in all its facets. The project is the initiative of the Alfreton Fellowship, a social enterprise project aimed at promoting Alfreton Town. Contributions to Alfreton History website are made directly by the public through an editorial process of moderators and editors who are a number of local historians and interested parties who have collected information, artifacts and memorabilia for historical research and preservation. Our senior researcher and site editor - Jill Sparrow
Jill's background is in teaching but her great passion has always been the past. For over 30 years she has been involved in genealogical research and, more recently, work with individuals on preserving their memories and photographs. She believes that our history is, most importantly, about the lives of ordinary people. So, if you have a story from your family's past, she would delighted to help you research it and publish it here. We welcome new members to the Alfreton History project, there are no qualifications necessary to join, just an interest in and a passion for local history.
